Hearts of the Shore is a project to better connect the people of Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore to the many small and medium-sized nonprofit organizations that serve the people of our region.
The three Lower Shore counties – Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester – are blessed with hundreds of small and medium-sized nonprofits that provide a wide range of valuable services to all of us. The staff of these organizations, employees and volunteers, work every day, often with very limited resources, to shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, protect our environment, educate our youth and our adults, treat and support those who are ill, promote the arts and generally make the Lower Shore a better place to live and work.
We are fortunate to have these organizations and their staff who are, in many ways, the ‘Hearts‘ of our communities.
The goal of Hearts of the Shore is to publicize the work of these nonprofits through this website and our newsletter. We will display current news about participating organizations including planned events and will host a ‘calendar’ of events as well as a separate information page for each organization.
We urge you to subscribe to our newsletter by providing your email address in the space at right, to return to this site often to learn about the good work that our nonprofits are doing and to provide any support you can to these organizations that work hard to make our lives better.
Hearts of the Shore is a program of Lower Shore Support Services and supported by a grant from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.
If you are a Lower Shore nonprofit and have an event or news that you would like to share, please email us at heartsoftheshore@gmail.com
