Delmarva Pollinator Festival and 12th Annual Native Plant Sale

May 4, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

This premier event is the largest pollinator festival in Maryland, Delaware, or Virginia, and brings together more than 750 students, adults, vendors, community members, nonprofit partners & more, to celebrate our native pollinators.
As we all know, pollinator populations have been on a sharp decline over the past decade and that is a big problem because “1 out of every 3 bites of food we eat requires pollination.” Furthermore, “more than 90% of all known flowering plants, and almost all fruits, vegetables and grains, require pollination to produce crops.” In addition to the food that we eat, pollinators support healthy ecosystems that clean the air, stabilize soils, and protect from severe weather – all while supporting other wildlife.

This all-ages, family-friendly event, along the Pocomoke River, will include live music, local food, crafts, kids-activities, and much more! This event helps to educate community members about the benefits of our resource-based industries. Attendees can also purchase from hundreds of native plants and take them to their home or business – further supporting the pollinators that give us healthy, local foods.

The 2019 Delmarva Pollinator Festival and 12th Annual Native Plant Sale will be held on May 4th, from 9am – 2pm, at Sturgis Park, in Snow Hill, MD. For more information, please contact Josh Hastings at jhastings@lowershorelandtrust.org or at 443-234-5587.
