LESEN Small Parcel Conservation

During the course of its work, the Lower Eastern Shore Engagement Network (LESEN) became aware of the need to protect both small agricultural parcels and small pockets of remaining biological diversity. The state’s land conservation programs put owners of small parcels, including many regenerative farmers, at a disadvantage. Due to structural limitations in Maryland’s land conservation programs and resource constraints on local land trusts, parcels of less than 50 acres are difficult to protect.
