The Furnace Town Foundation provides community and educational programming, sharing the lore of those who worked in service of the Nassawango Iron Furnace, and lived in the Pocomoke Forest. We steward and interpret the Village of historic buildings, and their collections, to provide connections to and understanding of the past and the natural world.
With our collection of historic nineteenth-century buildings and artisans’ studios, surrounding the Nassawango Iron Furnace, we are a learning center for the study of history, art and nature. We share the lore and legacy of life in the Pocomoke Forest.
We share the stories of Furnace Town, and the surrounding Pocomoke Forest, so our visitors may strengthen their understanding of the past, to enrich appreciation for the artistic achievements, technological genius, and social and economic contributions of the people that lived and worked here.
